is that the distinction between that one and the other wild ones? or is it that this one is caught in a different location?

Re: New Wild Type Species (Betta Siamorientalis)
its a different species belonging to the splenden complex group(just recently announced too)caught in eastern Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. First one was found in 1990's but they wasn't sure if it was a new species or not till just recently. Because it has the body of an imbellis and the head has a red plate just like a pure blood splenden so they though it was just a hybrid between splenden and imbellisLongest wrote:chongvang916 wrote:This type looks very good when they flare because their face gets all black

I see. I've been reading a lot about very old time betta keeping in sout East Asia. A lot of the fighters after fighting the fishes just realease the wild caught bettas into any water ways after they fight. some into places so that next year they could get the babies and some just into random water streams. so it could be that many bettas have bred with local ones and formed new types after awhile.

imagine if we could do that and have them survive... it gets way too cold here in the states for them to survive winters here... but maybe florida.

yea, that would be great. Florida water ways has already been packed with species from other countries, especially with snake heads.
